$11.78 Million Level Crossing Overhaul
All level crossings in WA will now either have a stop sign or active signals in a bid to improve safety.
Transport Minister Rita Saffioti has revealed to The Countryman that $11.78 million will be committed to ensuring every level crossing in the state will have either a stop sign or active controls.
In 2021, the WA state government and Main Roads launched a major review of passive-level crossings in the state. That review was finalised in December, results analysed and now an action plan set out.
87 level crossings were identified for upgrades, all but one which was in regional WA. Two will be in the Goldfields-Esperance region, two in the Great Southern, one in the Midwest, one in Perth, and the remainder in the Wheatbelt.
